To give a clear definition to media art is rather
difficult if not impossible. Of course, it is not
simply the training in software application,
nor is it a proper category to put under the
umbrella of animation, video or multimedia. It is
because in a highly mixing and switching hybrid
culture, the boundaries of these labels have
been increasingly blurred. For example, with the
development in digital effect, there are greater
demands for the fusion of film and animation
in the production process. The widespread use
of the Internet also brings about interactivity
and boundless possibilities to traditional moving
images. Probably, we should regard our study
as a cross-disciplinary knowledge to equip
ourselves with creativity and the ability to be
our own master in a rapidly changing society.
A multi-media training is not converting
individuals into tools to fit a customary
procedure. It is about cultivating learners’
innovative thinking and their flexibilities to use
different kind of medium as problem solving tools.
