Aims & Objectives
TIn light of the changes of the local academic structure and to meet the challenge of knowledge-based society, the programme aims at providing students with a genuine art experience through small teaching class, learning by doing, and active exploration of social and cultural environment. It offers a multi-disciplinary route for students to experience the various dimensions of communication ranging from 2D to 3D and covering the elements of time and space. The programme does not only allow students to acquire a broad range of artistic, communication and hands-on skills, but also nurtures their social and cultural awareness through the development of critical thinking, individuality and social consciousness.
The programme also prepares students for future industry/professional development or further academic studies in conjunction with the Applied and Media Arts disciplines and other creative fields.

Programme Structure
The programme consists of 67 credit units. It begins with modules of foundational nature, in which students will develop their skill of critical thinking, expose themselves to different workshops to obtain the basic technique and implementation experience, as well as to develop the fundamental knowledge required by the Applied and Media Art profession.
In the upper year, the programme will focus on studio-practice modules as well as the self-directed projects. Students will be able to understand the strengths and weaknesses of their development and work, demonstrate their ability of being independent and selfmotivated artists, and have social responsibility.
Alongside with the regular class meetings, supplementary and extra-curriculum activities such as forums, seminars and field trips, will be arranged.

The medium of instruction will be in Cantonese supplemented with English.
Learning materials will be in Chinese and English as appropriate. |

| Admission Requirements |
Level 2 (or above) in five Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education (HKDSE) subjects including English and Chinese;
(i) Each applicant is allowed to use not more than two Applied Learning subjects in the application;
(ii) Preferably with “Attained with Distinction” in Applied Learning subjects; or |
|
One A Level of an equivalent number of AS Level subjects in Hong Kong Advanced Level Examination (HKALE);
and
(i) 5 passes in HKCEE including English and Chinese; or
(ii) 3 passes in HKCEE plus level 2 or above in English and
Chinese; or |
|
Satisfactory completion of a pre-AD or an equivalent
programme; or |
|
| Holder of Foundation Diploma in Visual Art from Hong Kong
Art School; or |
|
Mature student at age 21 or above with substantial relevant
experience; or |
|
Candidate with substantial relevant background to be
assessed by the School. |

Hong Kong Art School reserves the right to make adjustments to the criteria as and when necessary, and/or with reference to the guidelines and practice as set out by the public institutions funded by the University Grant Committee (UGC), and the direction of the Joint Quality Review Committee (JQRC) and The Federation for Continuing Education in Tertiary Institutions (FCE). |
