Aims & Objectives

The Master of Fine Art (coursework) program is centred on the individual candidate’s practice and is designed to provide the serious art student with the opportunity to attain a high level of professional excellence. The program is pluralist in outlook, balancing the conceptual with the practical, and provides a stimulating and supportive environment for rigorous postgraduate study.

Programme Structure

The program is primarily studio-based and student centred. Content is negotiated between the candidate and their academic advisor based on issues generated from the candidate’s individual practice. It is complemented by individual and group tutorials and lectures. The program is delivered in a part-time mode over two years.

Students are expected to spend at least 20 hours a week on their studies including studio practice, direct contact with supervisors and participation in seminars and group tutorials. Students have to arrange their own studio space for individual practice.

The medium of instruction will be in English.

Admission Requirements
Holder of Bachelor of Arts (Fine Art); or
Equivalent degree from an approved college or university of art, with a distinction in the major discipline, recognized by RMIT University; or

Tertiary qualification together with considerable studio practice in an appropriate discipline which demonstrates an ability to undertake the programme.

Pass the RMIT University English language requirement by holding:

  • IELTS 6.5 with no band lower than 6 score; or
  • a minimum TOEFL score of 580 (TWE 4.5+); or 
  • equivalent, such as RMIT English Worldwide (REW) Advanced 2; or
  • successful completion of a recognised secondary school award, or higher award, where the language of instruction was English

(Applicants are required to present their portfolios during the interview.)

Tuition Fee HK$ 134,040 (subject to review)

Programme terminology is in accordance with partner university.

This programme is of high quality and has international recognition. However, it is a matter of discretion for individual employers to recognize the qualification to which these programmes may lead.
