Date of Completion: September 2017
The project was conducted by Phoebe Chan, Senior Lecturer / Programme Coordinator (Applied Theatre & Drama Education) of the School, in collaboration with part-time lecturers and alumni.
The team set up a research hub entitled “Drama and Democracy” at the 8th International Drama in Education Research Institute (IDIERI) Conference 2015. Through this hub, the researchers explored views and practices related to drama and democracy shared by drama practitioners from a wide range of cultural and socio-political contexts. These data, illuminating understanding and imaginations of both drama and democracy at a global and diverse cultural plane, were collated, analysed and would be used to create a performed research report in the form of live theatre. It is hoped that the research project will open up possibilities at a critical time in Hong Kong’s socio-political context, to consider the position of drama in social development.
