Lingnan University and Hong Kong Art School (a division of Hong Kong Arts Centre) are jointly launching a series of education programme to cultivate the knowledge and theory, skillset, as well as the contemporary revitalization of the city’s ICH in local junior secondary school students and the general mass of Hong Kong.

Pass it On” is part of the education programme which brings together traditional learning from ICH masters, and transformative learning and application of ICH conducted by contemporary ICH practitioner, with academic support from LU.


"Pass it On" Course 2018/19


We are now seeking working adults and art practitioners who are passionate about traditional crafts and art to join us in exploring a new and spectacular way of learning, and gain more in-depth knowledge of ICH.

After the course, 5 participants will be invited to intern in the next phase of the Programme, and will be offered a position as assistant instructor. A full reimbursement of the tuition fee will be offered to those who complete the internship and meet the requirements. They will become master trainers in the following phase, where they will take on the role of conducting workshops of their specialty.

Target: Working adults with passion in traditional crafts and art and graduates from contemporary art schools or institutions

Content of Course:

Paper crafting technique Paper craft products, as three-dimensional structures, are made from bamboo, bamboo strips, tissue paper and silk cloth through the coloring and assembling process.
Paper-cutting Technique Paper-cutting, a traditional art from northern China, has become an art form in Hong Kong. Based on Ying Jian (Negative cut) and Yang Jian (positive unit), various technique like hollowing out, stacking papers, filling color and stippling are featured.

The quality of cheongsam hinges on perfect fitting, fabric selection and good craftsmanship.
