
Experiencing Cultural Theory Through Art: A Short Introduction (A)
COURSE FEATURES
This course serves as an introduction to cultural theory to art practitioners. It begins with discussing the relationship between art and theory. Major cultural theorists are introduced through their reading of selected artworks. Reading art as a cultural text, this course examines it in modern, postmodern, gender, and urban contexts. Photographs, architecture, film, video, painting, sculpture, poems, and essays are used throughout the course.

Dr. FONG Ho Yin
Dr. FONG Ho Yin teaches literary and cultural studies in various tertiary institutions in Hong Kong. He is writing a book tentatively entitled as Walking Everyday Shanghai, Beijing, Hong Kong, and Taipei in Literary and Cultural Studies. He received a PhD degree in Comparative Literature at the University of Hong Kong in 2007.
