(Re-)experiencing Cultural Theory Through Art

COURSE FEATURES
This course serves as another introduction to cultural theory to art practitioners. Though it is the continuation of “Experiencing Cultural Theory Through Art,” no prior knowledge is needed. It keeps on discussing the relationship between art and theory. Major cultural theorists are introduced through their reading of selected artworks. Reading art as a cultural text, this course examines it in modern, postmodern, gender, and urban contexts. Photographs, architecture, film, video, painting, sculpture, poems, and essays are used throughout the course.
