Hong Kong Art School Showcase Series @ Jockey Club Atrium
This series consisted of four showcases, which were curated by Subject Coordinators / Lecturers of Hong Kong Art School with specialization correspondingly in the following four major disciplines: Ceramics, Painting, Photography and Sculpture.
The Jockey Club Atrium might be a challenging space for showcasing artworks, however it was exactly this challenge that ignites the interest of the curators. Alumni and students of Hong Kong Art School were invited to make use of this space with their creative thoughts and touches, turning it into a showcasing area full of experimental and inspiring discoveries.
Photography Showcase @ Jockey Club Atrium — Circumstance
The photographic works take the form of still shots, moving images and mixed media photography. They are works by five alumni of Hong Kong Art School. Audience would get an idea of how the events occurred in 2019 brought the artists to a watershed moment in their artistic creation.
Words from the Curator
To most of the people in Hong Kong, the year of 2019 was a profound one. Though there were many images being recorded throughout the year, my focus is on the influence of 2019 on artistic practices and the dialectic process within.
This exhibition presents five local artists who use photography as medium. Two years have gone since 2019, what may now be the mindset of the artists?
