From Pencil to Screen: A Journey Through Hand-Drawn Animation

COURSE FEATURES
This course will introduce students to the fundamentals of hand-drawn animation, taking them back to the roots of this art form. Also, it helps students to explore the relationship between drawing and animation. Designed for beginners, students will engage in a combination of lectures, demonstrations, hands-on exercises, and assignments to develop skills and knowledge of hand-drawn animation.

Course Objectives:
● Learn the concepts and principles of hand-drawn animation
● Explore different styles and possibilities of hand-drawn animation
● Uncover the relationship and potentialities between drawing and animation
● Develop skills in using physical materials such as paint and pencil on paper for creating animations
● Create their own hand-drawn flipbooks and animations

TUTOR
June WONG
June Wong is a Hong Kong visual artist. She explores city life and daily living through moving images and drawing. She collects elements from daily life for her artworks.
She graduated in 2018 with a Bachelor of Fine Art from Hong Kong Art School & RMIT University and received a Higher Diploma in Fine Art in 2014 from Hong Kong Art School. Also, she obtained her Bachelor of Nursing in 2010.

Her solo exhibitions include If there is Brilliant Sunshine at ACO Art Space, Hong Kong (2022), The 5th Summer at C&G Artpartment, Hong Kong (2019) and Movement of Days at PMQ, HK (2019). Her moving image See the Sea with me has been selected as the first-place winner of the 2022 Alpine Fellowship Visual Arts Prize and the Best Underground Film of Hong Kong Arthouse Film Festival 2022 award.
